Prelude Conversation

So I haven’t posted in a long time. I just really haven’t felt like posting. I’m still pretty much in that place right now. There is so much going on and posting hasn’t felt like a good way to spend time. But, I thought I’d just give an update.

I’m in a little place outside Kansas City, KS with about 50 youth workers and a few friends from VA. Stephen, Josh, and Chris all will likely blog about what is going on a bit more than I’m planning on doing but I want to mention that the rythms of having morning prayer and evening prayer have been wonderful.

We join in reciting the same liturgy every worship time. Worship is in the chapel and we sit on a plush carpet and enjoy a dimly lit room with a creative and meditative environment. One thing I have discovered while I’ve been here in the midst of people really thinking about youth ministry was in regards to my relationship with my Mom.

I’ve realized I haven’t really let her spiritual life influence me a whole lot. Since I was a little boy she has made the sign of the cross when she prays. She always says the same prayer and I know it in my heart. While I’ve been here I realized I can make the sign of the cross as a way to honor both my Mom and submit before God. I have also repeated her prayer in my head often these past few days. I offer her prayer today.

In the Name of the Father
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Bless us O Lord for these thy gifts
from which we are about to receive from thy bounty.
In the Name of the Father
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen
